04/40 Hat Bathtub

The bathtub on display on the east mezzanine of the museum is often mistakenly thought of as a bath for hats but is actually a bath tub shaped like a hat. It is portable with a handle on the back of it so it can be easily set up anywhere.

Users of the hat bathtub would pour water in the basin portion, sit on the ledge and wash oneself the best they could. This particular hat bathtub was supposedly used by, Mrs. Carrie Filer, a local lumber magnate’s wife.
